赵普先生乃北京书画界之宿老，为北京书协成立时百名会员之一。早在上世纪八十年代，己名重京城。但先生一向安分守己，颇少出头露面，直到退休后，被邀入地坛一隅立书法工作室，仍保持谨慎低调的态度，每日读书习字、画画， 一扇破旧的铁板门用木棒一顶，鸦雀无声的自修书画，一闭 一十六载，除偶有访客之外，基本属隐居状态，先生惜时如金，不肯躁动和随波逐流，明确表白，如果说有点成绩，也是退休后十几年“闭关”的结果。库房里大大小小的存放了逾千件作品，难以数计的手稿及出版物。朴素的书斋都是从库房的破旧家具中挑拣搭建而成的。他虽孤身修炼于小院中，却几乎岁有所成，三度出书为隶书传承尽力。年年为地坛春节文化庙会尽心，而其他时间便是专心自修了！

    柯文辉先生在为《赵普书画集》作序中提到：“赵隶” 骨骼坚稳，筋脉晓畅，抱璞怀真，气象壮穆。消化遗产，融汇增删，取精用宏，处心恭，求静谧，指死腕活，取法高， 结体质而严，铺毫沉，疾涩避设计，干湿浓淡，贯以中锋， 方笔方构，主宰临池，间有圆笔，聊为穿插，宾主随需施墨。 存古拙神采，奉汉碑金梭，参证篆楷，自见流妍，调节经纬， 隐去斧痕。大字有小字凝聚意象；小件兼得巨幅奔腾。起承转合，飞扬跌宕，变异服从整体，明快含蓄携手同归。剪枝 蔓，突出主峰，令通书道者临别依依回眸，未习碑帖者雅兴不减。与他并肩，齐力为大中华优秀传统文化的传承和发展贡献力量。

Zhao Pu: Born in Beijing in 1939, he is a famous painter and calligrapher. Member of China Calligrapher Association and Beijing Calligrapher Association, Consultant of China International Broadcasting Publishing House, Member of British Oriental Artists Association and Cross-Strait Painting and Calligraphy Association.

Zhao Pu's works are well-known for Li Shu and are highly praised by calligraphers at home and abroad. Liu Bingsen, a famous calligrapher, once called Zhao Pu's calligraphy "a couple of Lan Si-xin, such as Song Zhisheng", praising its ancient style and grand spirit. Zhao Pu is good at seal letters, takes regular scripts and uses his pen with great vigor. There are many breaking rules between the shelves, so the dynamic and static are intertwined, the odd and the odd change, the black and white fall, the vast and magnificent.

Zhao Pu's works are collected by many museums at home and abroad. In 1988, he participated in the painting and calligraphy exhibition commemorating the 90th anniversary of Zhou Enlai's birth. The exhibits were collected by Chairman Mao's Memorial Hall. In addition, he also had the title of "Yuanmingyuan Site Park" plaque and was a stele of "Dadu Fu" at the ruins of the ancient city of Yuan Dynasty. In 1990, at the invitation of Tian'anmen City Building Administration Bureau, he created a large scale calligraphic work for Tian'anmen City Building, Su Shi's "Niannujiao Chibi Nostalgia". In 1994, he was the inscription of "The Analects of Confucius" stele garden in Qufu, Shandong Province, with the titles "Shanhua Tang" and "Gaoshan Yangzhi". Zhao Pu Calligraphy Collection was published in 1999.
